Kvartal 71 is moving along
The revised planning proposal for Kvartal 71 promises to transform an area of the city that previously housed the hospital and the county council of Kristiansand into a completely new district of town. The major changes from the last proposal is a larger focus on sustainable transformation, re- use and re-building and was delivered late December 2024. Encompassing a major city site in Kristiansand the new proposal for KV71 contains approx. 400 new dwellings ranging from urban homes close to Tordenskjoldsgate to apartment buildings set in quiet and tranquil parklike surroundings. By keeping and transforming existing buildings new paths and walkways strengthens sightlines and communications sones in-site, with the city and to the recreational woodland and lakes of nearby Baneheia. The architectural language of the new district varies between classical urban facades towards the main road of Tordenskjoldsgate, subtle façade transformations of excisting buildings and a more organic and playful approach for the new buildings in the park. The plan for Kvartal 71 is developed by a-lab architetcs in close collaboration with @soloneiendom, together with Code architects and Henning Larsen for the landscape. Other contributors are Acron and Natural State.
